Located opposite Macy’s in Waikiki is great. There is a waiting list but this is like most other places in Waikiki. If you go early for dinner you won’t have to wait too long. The food is really cheap for the size and there is so much to choose from. Two people could share a meal if you want to save money and the waistline. The quality is excellent. You could eat there each day for 2 weeks and not order the same thing twice. Tip – when they take your order they will bring out some bread. You don’t have to pay for the bread it is complimentary. If you order a softdrink they will refill your glass for free too. You will find this is the case for most eating establishments in Waikiki.
This restaurant is about a 15 walk towards Ala Moana Shopping Centre from Waikiki. They do a great steak with seafood topping etc. And again they will bring out some complimentary cheese scone/damper bread prior to your main. It is delicious…..Tip – an entree is what we call a main in Australia.
This shop is really good to get sandwiches or salads from the salad bar to take to the beach. Located near Macy’s in Waikiki (there are others around Honolulu). I normally buy my cereal or milk etc from here to have in my hotel room.
Lewers Street (Beach Walk)
This is about a 4min walk from Macy’s in Waikiki. This street has some really good places to eat. In particular the Yard House, Giovanni Pastrami, Ruth Chris’s Steak House (this one is more expensive located upstairs on beach walk). The Yard House has a great environment and has a fantastic range of food. The southern fried chicken with bourbon sauce, pizza and onion rings with ranch sauce are yummy. If you love desert you should try their homemade cooked brownie on the premises. It is to die for. It is a must!
Beach Walk, Waikiki
Great initiative from the Hawaiian government. They have re-vamped this area and it looks fantastic now. For further dining see website http://www.waikikibeachwalk.com/
California Pizza Kitchen
This is good for pizza and pasta. It is located near Macy’s upstairs. (near coco cove). Again a waiting list and complimentary bread and softdrink refills. They have a great Red Velvet cake here. If you have not tried it, it is a must!
Located at Ala Moana Shopping Mall. They have some nice food with a Forrest Gump theme. The chicken Cajun burger is really nice. Tip – If you eat outside on a Friday night you will get to see the fireworks that launches from Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Cold Stone Ice creamery
I was in Hawaii October 2013. Unfortunately all the Cold Stones have been closed down in the Waikiki area. This made me very sad lol.
Old post- Located on the main street of Waikiki opposite the big quick silver shop under the Ohana Islander hotel. You have to try the cake batter ice-cream. It’s amazing that they can get it to taste like raw cake batter. The cookie dough ice-cream is yummy also. You can make any combination you like but they have some suggestions up on their menu. Make sure you try it.
I love Starbucks and always have. The weather in Hawaii always makes me want a caramel frappacino which are great for cooling you off. I normally have a Starbucks card and put some credit on it for the duration of the trip. This allows me to purchase drinks with my card rather than having cash on me. You can top your card up any time including on the internet. They have free wi-fi if you want to access Facebook etc.
Everybody who visits Waikiki has to visit Dukes. It’s a beach bar/restaurant where you can wear swimmers and no shoes! It’s located in the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel and is directly on Waikiki beach. they are famous for their waffle fries a must try. Reasonably basic food however very consistent each time I have been there.
Honolulu Cookie Company
Located on beach walk they have great shortbread. You can try before you buy. I suggest this as you will definitely walk out with a cookie of some kind. These are really good to take back home for presents as you can pick and choose different combinations and they come in a little box which presents really nice.
A very popular restaurant on the main street of Waikiki near beach walk. They offer a Spanish/Mexican cuisine which is quite nice too. Again, waiting times can be quite long.
